My Review: Align Probiotics (2023) – Any Side Effects?

It’s time to review Align Probiotics – which looks like a very interesting supplement.

But is this probiotic really worth it?:

  • pretty high price
  • based on only one probiotic
  • contains traces of dairy

Or are there any chances that it's just a scam?

Well, I analyzed some of its aspects, to give you the real truth behind it.

Note: This review is based on my opinion + research on Align Probiotics.

Review Summary

Full Name: Align Probiotic Supplement 24/7 Digestive Support by Align

Product Type: Probiotics

Best Actual Price: Around $21

Cheapest Place To Buy: Amazon

Designed For: Balancing the digestive system

My Rating: 4 out of 10

Recommended?: No – I don't consider it a good choice at all:

  • disappointing formula
  • quite expensive
  • works pretty slow

Instead – I recommend you to go for the best probiotic from the market that I looked into.

What I Liked About It

  • Many authentic customer reviews
  • Available in different retailers
  • Made by a legit company

What I Didn’t Like About It

  • Only one bacterial strain
  • Low doses overall
  • Contains dairy
  • Pricey for its value
  • Takes some time to start working
  • Side effects are quite common

Align Probiotics In A Nutshell

Align Probiotics is a supplement made to address digestion issues.

Based on my research, the product line has 7 different versions:

  • Probiotic Supplement 24/7 Digestive Support
  • Extra Strength Probiotic Supplement
  • Probiotic Chewables for Adults Supplement
  • Fast-Acting Biotic Gummies
  • Digestive De-Stress Probiotic + Ashwagandha Capsules
  • Resistance Formula Probiotic Supplement
  • Digestive De-Stress Probiotic+ Ashwagandha Gummies

Among all of these options, I'm going to focus on the 24/7 Digestive Support.

So far – here's what I found about its potency:

  • only one bacterial strain in a very low amount (4 mg/capsule)
  • 1 billion CFU overall strength
  • contains milk/dairy

If you ask me, this product seems relatively weak compared to other leading probiotics.

I also want to highlight the possible side effects it can trigger.

That especially for people who don't tolerate dairy or milk.

When it comes to the price, Align's product is more on the expensive side.

The price of its sizes/packages ranges from $21 to $44.

Considering the time it needs to start working, you will definitely need more than one bottle.

That's why I recommend some better probiotics that are potent enough.

Align's supplement is not bad – but it's not excellent either.

#1 – Claims & Producer

Firstly – here are some basic info about this supplement:

  • which health issues it treats
  • how it works
  • what is the company behind
1. Claims

Align Probiotics claim to be a “24/7 Digestive Support.”

What exactly does this mean? According to its promises:

  • protects against digestive upsets
  • helps against digestive imbalances
  • maintains a healthy bowel function

As I said – there are different versions of probiotics offered by the brand:

  • Probiotic Supplement 24/7 Digestive Support
  • Extra Strength Probiotic Supplement
  • Probiotic Chewables for Adults Supplement
  • Fast-Acting Biotic Gummies
  • Digestive De-Stress Probiotic + Ashwagandha Capsules
  • Resistance Formula Probiotic Supplement
  • Digestive De-Stress Probiotic+ Ashwagandha Gummies

But in this review, I want to focus on Align Probiotic Supplement 24/7 Digestive Support.

And that's because it's more popular among a large number of users.

This supplement claims to be gluten-free, soy-free, and vegetarian.

Honestly – there isn't much info available about this product.

The info is straight to the point and as seen on Align Probiotic's website.

2. Company Behind

The producer of this supplement is called Align.

Based on my research, this brand is under Procter & Gamble (P&G).

I looked at Align's website and here's what I found so far:

  • has 3 product lines (Daily Wellness, Digestive Support and Probiotics for Children)
  • directs you to buy on its account on Amazon and Walgreens
  • contact info includes a phone number, email and live chat

Overall – I don't see any problem with the Align Probiotic's legitimacy.

The supplement comes from a reputable company so it's safe to buy.

#2 – Ingredients (4 out of 10)

Compared to other probiotics, Align Probiotic is very weak:

  • only 4 mg/capsule
  • one bacteria strain (trademark)
  • 1 billion CFU

Basically – the only ingredient present in this supplement is B. longum subsp. longum 35624.

Based on my research:

  • helps against irritable bowel syndrome [1]
  • fights off harmful bacteria inside your stomach

If you ask me, the bacteria strain present in this probiotic sounds great.

However – no matter how good it was, it's only one.

So I don't think it's strong enough to work alone as well as a mix of 5-10 strains.

Besides, keep in mind the amount inside every capsule.

Lastly – I also want to point out that this supplement contains dairy.

In case you're lactose-intolerant, it's definitely something you should avoid.

Conclusion

The one bacterial strain from this probiotic looks good.

However – it could be way better if combined with several strains.

Since it only contains one bacteria, I wouldn't expect too much from it.

That's why I'm not a very big fan of its formulation.

#3 – Pills & Dosage (9 out of 10)

Here are some info about the supplement's appearance.

1. Pills

If you ask me, here's how I would describe Align Probiotics:

  • white-colored capsules
  • normal pill size
  • typical probiotic smell

Basically – it looks like a regular everyday supplement and there's nothing special about it.

If you're used to taking any medication, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

2. Dosage

Regarding the product's instruction, here's how you should take Align Probiotics:

  • take a capsule per day
  • no specific time of intake
  • can be taken with or without meals

There's also an instruction that the product should be stored below 30°C in its blister pack.

If you ask me, I always suggest you to take the pills after the meal (to avoid stomach cramps).

Also, there's no defined duration of how long you should take the supplement.

So I guess you take it until you decided to stop.

Overall – it's quite easy to follow and not a high-maintenance product.

#4 – Results (5 out of 10)

To see the product's effect on different people, I always check the customer reviews.

I do this in order to avoid giving a one-sided view and to be fair.

So far, I don't have a problem with Align Probiotics.

That's because there are a lot of buyer experiences available.

Note: I only analyzed authentic reviews, not promotional or fake ones.

1. Positive Opinions

I want to focus on the reviews on Amazon (since they are known to be legit).

Let's take a look at the 5-star comments of buyers:

  1. Almost all customers mentioned that it helped with their digestion.
  2. Some said their gas and bloating were gone.
  3. Others experienced their stomach going back to functioning normally.
  4. The rest wrote that it helped their stomach issues overall.

Honestly – all the positive comments are similar, so I couldn't add more.

Plus, it looks like most buyers were satisfied, since it got 4.6/5 stars.

So I would say that it's a product that works in many cases.

2. Negative Opinions

In order to be fair, we also look at the negative side.

So let me show you the complaints of other customers:

  1. Some mentioned that it took more than a month to start working.
  2. A lot of people said that the price is too much.
  3. Others complained about handling and shipping.
  4. There were some people who experienced adverse effects.

Now, I did expect a lot of complaints about the supplement taking months to work.

So that's a sign of how it works in general.

And in terms of potency – it's not the fastest/strongest probiotic out there (not even close).

Conclusion

Overall – Align Probiotic did work for many users.

However, you should know that it takes a while for it to start working.

That's why I don't consider it a great option, especially for the price.

#5 – Side Effects (5 out of 10)

I analyzed most user opinions, in order to see what reactions tends to cause this product.

So far – here's the majority of the side effects I read about:

  • Intestinal issues
  • Allergies (milk)
  • Sickness/fever
  • Acid reflux
  • Loose bowel (lactose-intolerant)

Now, allergies and loose bowel were probably the most common among the reviews.

And that's probably because of the milk traces inside this product.

So if you have any small sensitivity to dairy, I advise you to avoid this product.

It's true that the other side effects have nothing to do with milk/dairy.

So Align's product isn't the safest even if we excluded this issue.

#6 – Price (4 out of 10)

Honestly – I would say that Align Probiotic is a little expensive.

So it's not something I could recommend right now.

1. The Exact Price

There are different sizes available for this supplement.

But there are 3 options are only available on Amazon:

  1. 14 capsules cost $20.99
  2. 28 capsules cost $25.06
  3. 63 capsules cost $41.24
  4. Shipping is free for all

I also want to mention the other sizes and their cheapest price:

  • 42 capsules cost $38.89
  • 56 capsules cost $43.98

The good thing about Align's website is that it offers store choices.

You're basically given out several retailers where you can buy the products.

However – to me, even the cheapest size is still quite expensive.

That's because it won't even last a month, so you will surely need a higher quantity to see any results.

2. Competitors’ Price

If you're looking for a good option, let me introduce to you my top recommended probiotic.

I am talking about Your Biology Gut+:

  1. Your Biology Gut+ contains 10  essential bacterial strains in high doses.
  2. It combines prebiotics with probiotics.
  3. Align Probiotic has only one bacterial strain and the overall formula is weak.
  4. Your Biology Gut+ requires 3 pills per day while Align Probiotics suggests 1.
  5. Your Biology Gut+ costs $64.99 but you can get it for $39 (discounted price).
  6. On the other hand, Aling Probiotic's price ranges from $21 to $44.

If you ask me, I would say that the price you pay for Your Biology Gut+ is worth it.

And that's because you will get a lot more bacterial strains within the right doses.

So the supplement is a lot more powerful – and so are its results.

Overall – I strongly recommend Your Biology Gut+ instead, since it's a better deal in most aspects.

Conclusion

In my view, Align Probiotic is a little expensive compared to other supplements:

  • one box doesn't last a lot
  • high price range
  • not worth the value

I'm not saying that it's not effective, it's just expensive for the quality you get.

That's why I'm not a big fan of it at all, so I don't recommend it.

#7 – Final Conclusions

Here's how I would summarize my thoughts about Align Probiotics.

1. Weak Formulation

I want to point out that Align Probiotic has a weak formula compared to others:

  • one bacterial strain
  • 4 mg per capsule
  • 1 billion CFU

The supplement also has milk inside, so that's something to think about.

Overall – it might be effective, but it will surely take a longer time to work.

2. Good Background

This supplement comes from a pretty famous brand called Align.

Plus – the company behind this mini-brand is Procter & Gamble (P&G).

So in terms of legitimacy, I would say that it's safe to buy and try it.

You're not going to get scammed, I can pretty much guarantee this.

3. Quite Expensive

As I mentioned, this product is a little expensive:

  • $20.99/14 capsules
  • needs to be repurchased
  • works pretty slow

There are other sizes as well.

But I would recommend you to test out the product first (before buying a larger supply).

Since you have this option, why go for the largest supply directly?

My Verdict – Worth It Or Not?

Short answer: Not really – there are several reasons:

  1. Contains one bacterial strain only
  2. Low doses
  3. Expensive for its quality
  4. Works very slow in many cases
  5. Contains dairy

Now, Align's Probiotics is not a bad product at all.

But in terms of potency, it's far from the top.

So considering all the facts I mentioned, I don't think it's worth it.

If you really want a better alternative, there's my #1 recommendation.

I'm talking about a product called Your Biology Gut+:

  • Made up of 10 essential bacterial strains
  • Combines probiotics with prebiotics
  • Works much faster
  • Price is worth its value

So to me, Your Biology Gut+ seems like a much wiser option overall.

If you really want to make the most of your money, that's the product I strongly recommend to you.

  1. I pooped so much I thought I was going to die. I don’t see any benefits for me. So if you are like me, someone that is lactose-intolerant, DO NOT GIVE THIS A TRY. I don’t know about others but I definitely would not repeat nor recommend this. First, it’s really pricey and second, I’m really scared of the side effects. My conscience cannot take it if someone else suffers the same as me because of my negligence/recommendation. If I were to rate it, it would be 3/10.

    1. Hi Rain… I’m sorry to hear about your experience with this product. I really suggest checking out the formula first before buying anything. Even though they are saying that it is safe to use, keep in mind that if you are lactose intolerant, your body might have an adverse reaction. I do agree and same as you we would not recommend a faulty or bad product. As such, if you are still up for it, maybe check out BiomeMD? It’s a good product, if I may say so myself with little to no side effects. I hope you are better now and have stopped taking this because it might only worsen your condition.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

  2. This is an okay product. I came across this while surfing the web. Fortunately, I’m not really allergic to lactose so I did not experience any discomfort or LBM. Still, I would say that this is not something that I would recommend or not recommend. I think it’s all up to the customer if they have the money and guts (pun intended) to try Align Probiotics.

    1. What’s up Pierre? It’s good that you’ve had an okay experience with this product. Align probiotics is certainly not the best in the market for me because of the side effect it brings and its quality per price ratio. Frankly speaking, there are a lot of better alternatives with a much better pricing and effect. But yes, it is all up to the customer whether they will avail a product or not. There is no perfect product but surely, we can choose the best product that suits us.

      Thanks again,
      Angelica

  3. yep. just another reason not to waste my time buying these products. i’m scared because i dont really know what works for me or not. and neither do i want to risk it. i have enough back pain problem to add another one. take it from me, be cautious if you want to buy health products.

    1. Hey Sharilou. This is Angelica. Your sentiments is valid but I suggest that you not give up on using prebiotics because our body needs it. Since your concern is regrading a product, why not just switch to foodstuff that are rich in probiotics? It’s exactly because of the lack of information or awareness on how we should choose the probiotics that we created this guide. For back pain, check out this guide too. I know I might seem meddlesome but I really just want you to feel better. Yes it is good to be cautious but not so much that we risk missing the opportunity to keep ourselves healthy.

      Take care!
