Is Prebiothrive A Scam? My Review (2023)

It’s time for another supplement review – so is Prebiothrive a scam?

Are there any chances that this prebiotic works?:

  • pretty weak formula
  • very expensive
  • many user complaints

Let's find out if this product is worth trying, based on the facts I found out.

Note: This review is based on my opinion + research on Prebiothrive Prebiotics.

Review Summary

Full Name: Prebiothrive Dietary Supplement by Gundry MD®

Product Type: Probiotics

Best Actual Price: Starts at $79

Cheapest Place To Buy: Official website

Designed For: Feeding the good bacteria in the gut

My Rating: 3 out of 10

Recommended?: No – I found some negative features about it:

  • significant complaints
  • pretty high price tag
  • not as strong as classic probiotics

Instead, I advise you to try the best probiotic from the market, which has some much better results.

What I Liked About It

  • Suitable for people who don't lack good bacteria
  • Reputable brand behind
  • Enough authentic customer reviews
  • Great choice for general health
What I Didn’t Like About It

  • Works as a support supplement only (for probiotics)
  • Pretty weak formulation
  • Very pricey
  • A lot of customer complaints
  • Can cause many side effects

Prebiothrive In A Nutshell

What makes Prebiothrive special is that it's a prebiotic supplement.

In other words – it's designed to feed the existing good bacteria from your stomach.

On the other hand, probiotics increase the number of good bacteria present.

That's why prebiotics are not as potent overall.

Now, the idea of feeding the good bacteria is pretty good.

However – there are some issues I found in this exact product:

  • effect is slower and takes a longer time
  • contains milk
  • triggers side reactions

Now, I didn't expect it to provide the same benefits as probiotics.

But honestly, you can get prebiotics by eating fruits and vegetables.

So I don't necessarily recommend taking prebiotics – only probiotics, which are harder to get.

Also – the product contains milk, which can cause allergies.

And honestly, $79 for a jar of 300 g  is super expensive and impractical.

If you have that budget, I recommend you to probiotic supplements.

The results would be much better in this case.

So I don't recommend paying such a huge amount on prebiotics, that's all.

#1 – Claims & Producer

Firstly – here are the basic things you need to know about the supplement:

  • how it works
  • the company behind
  • health issues it treats
1. Claims

Prebiothrive claims to “promote a probiotic-friendly environment in your gut.”

And here are the benefits it promises to provide:

  • helps good bacteria flourish
  • promotes a healthy digestion
  • boosts energy levels
  • balances existing good bacteria

There's also a statement that the product is sugar-free and artificial sugar-free.

If you ask me, this aspect is important (since not everyone can take sugars).

So as you can see, almost all of the benefits lead to helping the existing bacteria.

I'm not saying that it's bad, but it's better to go straight for probiotic supplements.

2. Company Behind

The maker of Prebiothrive is a brand named Gundry MD®.

Based on my research, here's some info about it:

  • makes supplements, skin care, food, dog food, books and magazines
  • products are made to improve health
  • contact info includes email, phone number and mailing address

Honestly – the overall brand presentation is good and it looks really professional.

So far – I think it's safe to buy from the official website, just to be sure that it's legit.

#2 – Ingredients (5 out of 10)

Now – since Prebiothrive is not a probiotic, don't expect it to contains some actual bacterial strains.

Instead, it's based on substances that can feed the existing bacteria.

So as a prebiotic, here are the ingredients inside it:

  1. Acacia gum – increases the number of bifidobacteria [1]
  2. Agave inulin – balances the amount of bacteria in the gut [2]
  3. Flaxseed – provides fiber to improve metabolism [3]
  4. Galacto-oligosaccharides – serves as food for good bacteria in the intestine [4]
  5. Guar gum – helps with the growth of good bacteria [5]

Again – these ingredients work more as support for healthy gut bacteria.

So they are not a direct source of probiotic benefits, if that's what you're looking for.

Besides, keep in mind that Prebiothrive contains milk.

Conclusion

Overall – it's not a bad product but it's not that exceptional either.

I only see Prebiothrive as good for people who don't lack good bacteria.

But if you ask me, you would get a lot more benefits from probiotic supplements.

#3 – Consistency & Dosage (6 out of 10)

Now – things are a little different at this chapter.

1. Consistency

Instead of being formulated as pills or capsules, Prebiothrive is a completely different supplement:

  • formulated as power
  • beige color
  • fine moist powder

So if you're not used to taking pills, this formulation could be a great alternative.

But again, it's' not a probiotic – so it's fine being a powder.

2. Dosage

Based on Prebiothrive's website, here's how you should take it:

  1. Use one scoop every morning.
  2. Dissolve it in water or other beverages.
  3. Use it together with probiotics.

Now – it's quite easy to follow the instructions and the product is very simple to use.

Just make sure you can make it part of your daily routine.

#4 – Results (4 out of 10)

I always check the comments, in order to see how a product works.

Fortunately, there are customer reviews available both on official website and on retailers.

Note: I only analyzed authentic reviews, not promotional or fake ones.

1. Positive Opinions

For this chapter, I chose the reviews on Amazon, because those are known to be more honest.

So far – here are the previous buyers' positive opinions:

  1. A lot of customers mentioned that it fixed their bowel movements.
  2. Some said it also helped them lose weight.
  3. Others experienced less bloating and gas.
  4. The rest testified that it works and they would recommend it.

Honestly – it looks like a lot of people used Prebiothrive for weight loss.

And the highest rating it got from Amazon is 4.2/5 stars, which is great.

2. Negative Opinions

Let's now take a look at what other customers didn't like about the product:

  1. Most of the customers complained about the smell, taste and texture.
  2. Some found it hard to dissolve in water and any beverages.
  3. Others experienced a lot of adverse effects.
  4. A lot of them mentioned that it's very expensive for its true value.

Now – it looks like a lot of previous buyers are disappointed with the supplement.

In fact, it has quite a high number of complaints (compared to other products).

And based on these reviews, I would say that these users have strong reasons to be mad.

Conclusion

I kind of expected that Prebiothrive would not have a lot of in-depth reviews.

And based on the reviews, the product works only to provide fiber that aid weight loss.

So it's not that effective in terms of digestive issues.

That's why I advise you to get a probiotic instead, because of its significant benefits.

#5 – Side Effects (5 out of 10)

If you ask me, I didn't think Prebiothrive would cause any severe effects.

But based on the reviews, I found some customers experiences:

  • nausea and vomiting
  • stomach cramps
  • explosive diarrhea
  • bloating and gas
  • allergic reaction

I would say that these side effects can be very selective and they shouldn't appear in everyone.

Also – the allergies could be because of the milk traces inside this product.

But all in all, you should think twice about this supplement.

It's true that its side effects aren't very severe or dangerous.

But honestly – it's better to take this risk with probiotics than with prebiotics.

#6 – Price (2 out of 10)

Honestly – I find Prebiothrive very expensive.

Even if you use it as a laxative or weight loss aid, it's not a good option (in my view).

1. The Exact Price

When it comes to pricing, I would focus on the deals on the brand's official website:

  1. A jar costs $79
  2. 3 jars cost $222
  3. 6 jars cost $414
  4. Free shipping (for all US orders)

Now, the weight of a jar is 300 g (10.6 oz.) and it's stated that 1 scoop has 10 g.

So upon my estimation, a jar most likely will last 30 days (1 month).

But even – Prebiothrive is still expensive as a supplement.

Since it's not even a probiotic, it doesn't have some very strong effect/benefits.

So why would you pay so much on a product that has more of a general health effect?

2. Competitors’ Price

I have a very good alternative for you and it's my top recommended probiotic.

I'm talking about a probiotic called Your Biology Gut+:

  1. Your Biology Gut+ contains 10 essential bacterial strains.
  2. The formula is more potent and really supports the gut.
  3. Also, it combines probiotics with prebiotics.
  4. Prebiothrive contains a prebiotic blend of fibers, sugar and milk.
  5. The formula is good for feeding the naturally existing probiotics.
  6. However, it's not very potent as a probiotic.
  7. Your Biology Gut+ normally costs $64.99 but it's always discounted to $39.
  8. Prebiothrive's price starts at $79 and offers several bundles.

Honestly – I believe that taking probiotics is better in terms of effect and health benefits.

And that's why I think you should get Your Biology Gut+ instead.

Prebiothrive doesn't contain some actual probiotics.

For this reason – it's not as effective for a personal lacking good bacteria.

Conclusion

If you ask me – for a health digestive system, taking probiotics is better.

Not only will it provide you with some good gut bacteria, but it will also boost your digestive health.

Prebiothrive is only good is for people who don't lack good bacteria.

#7 – Final Conclusions

Here's how I would summarize my view on Prebiothrive.

1. Basic Formulation

As a prebiotic – Prebiothrive has some decent ingredients.

But upon careful research, I found out that there are better alternatives.

Also, I honestly think that you can get the benefits of the ingredients in other ways.

The easiest option is by eating healthy food (fruits and veggies).

2. Weak Effect

I compared Prebiothrive with a probiotic, to give you an idea on which one is better.

So if you're looking to improve your gut flora, this supplement helps very little.

I'm not saying that it won't work, but don't expect too much.

3. Very Expensive

Lastly – for a product that provides fiber and feeds good bacteria, it's very expensive.

If you ask me, I don't think that spending $79 for a month's supply is not worth it.

So there's no way I could recommend you this product.

My Verdict – Worth It Or Not?

Short answer: Not really – and I have a lot of reasons behind this choice:

  1. Minimal benefits
  2. Weak formula
  3. Overpriced
  4. Side effects (milk & plant-based ingredients)
  5. A lot of user complaints

Prebiothrive is not bad, but I don't think it's worth investing in (given its price and value).

As I said, you can get its benefits just by eating balanced and healthy foods.

Honestly – I think that taking a probiotic supplement is way better.

And that's why I have a recommendation for you makes a much better option.

I'm talking about a product called Your Biology Gut+:

  • Focuses on improving and maintaining a healthy gut
  • Contains 15 very helpful bacterial strains
  • Based on both prebiotics and probiotics
  • Works fast, it's effective and very helpful

So it's quite obvious why I recommend Your Biology Gut+ instead.

It's a lot more effective if you want to restore your digestive balance.

Not to mention that it boosts your good bacteria, which is essential for your health.

  1. Bad Breath is one of the results of unbalance stomach, many people suffering from these conditions choose to remain silent, thus living a life filled completely with insecurity. Oh it’s one of the things I read online when you have unbalanced good and bad bacteria in your stomach. I was browsing for the best probiotic online and saw Prebiothrive. As usual, I want to find out more about it so I search and search, now I am on your website. You clearly mentioned right away that it is not a probiotic, instead, it is prebiotic. Well it shouldn’t be part of the list. Kidding aside, I battled with halitosis before but after I fixed and balanced my diet and got good digestion, everything went smoothly and my breath is not bad anymore. reading your other reviews and they are all interesting. Brb!

    1. Hello, Clara! Thank you for that wonderful information. A messed-up gut can also result in bad breath not only in the morning but all for the rest of the day. Yes, you’re right! Prebiothrive is a prebiotic. It’s not a bad product but I believe more in the power of probiotics. I’m happy that you regain your confidence back, it’s really a good motivation to be productive and reach more goals. Let me know what other products you find interesting in our reviews. Enjoy reading!

  2. Hi. This is very useful information on digestive pain and discomfort. You have laid out a very easy-to-follow and easy-to-read article that can be understood by a simple person like me. Technical and science-y terms are not my good friends so this is appreciated a lot. Believe it or not, it has been years ever since I tried probiotics but I still have had no luck in finding the right one for me. Prebiothrive looks very good but after reading about it, it is prebiotic so it looks like it will not work again for me. Kinda frustrating now that I still haven’t found a good one. Maybe I could use this to support my probiotic but I need to finds that first lol! – Nelson

    1. Hey, nelson67! Thanks for appreciating our articles and our real goal is to provide information that’s reader-friendly. We aim to be understood by everyone especially those who are not really familiar with medical terms. You can surely use this if you want to but I suggest you to look for a very good probiotic supplement so you don’t have to get prebiotic anymore. I hope you don’t mind but you can read about Probio-Lite if you want and if you have time. Maybe you can consider it too. Good luck and stay safe!

  3. In short, this product is pricey and disgusting. I never expected it to taste like that. I gagged and immediately spat it out. Glad to have it out of my mouth but the realization that I just wasted money made me cry more than anything else. Though money is not really an issue for me, it doesn’t mean that I take it for granted. So just a tip from me, keep in mind that it might taste strange.

    1. Hi Emerlyn. I can see that there are a lot of complaints about the taste of the product. and it’s not only here but also outside and in other retailers. In fact, the taste may have been a turn off for some of its users. Either way, it is important that the medicine is ingestible because otherwise, it would not be able to serve its purpose. Anyway, I think there are a lot of better products out there. You just really have to be able to distinguish and choose what suits you and this is precisely why we have a guide on how to choose a probiotics that fits your need.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

      -Angelica

  4. I used this product for a while but I don’t see any difference before and after taking this product. The taste wasn’t as bad as I expected but the price and its result is definitely a no for me.. I think I’ll lay low with using these products and instead find natural solution to my problem. Thanks for the article! It brought justice to my experience.

    1. Hey there, Carl! Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience with Prebiothrive. I do agree that there are issues in its price and result, coupled with the fact that the taste and texture is not for everyone. It’s unfortunate that this happened to you and I’m sorry for it. Frankly speaking, instead of prebiothrive, using a different approach or product is much better. In fact, using natural solution such as food can be a better alternative. `

  5. I was a former user of the product. I was quite okay at first but suddenly I can feel some changes in my stomach. Cramps became a frequent but on some days it gets so bad I vomit all day long. This became the reason why I quit using this product and up till now, I’m still on the road of recovery. Please take this product with caution.

    1. Hi Yenny, Angelica here. Thank you for sharing your product experience. This is quite worrying. Have you consulted with your doctor? When did it start? The impact must have hit you so hard and I’m sorry this happened to you. Your valuable experience will surely be something that people should consider before purchasing. Aside from the price, the result/safeness of a product should be really considered. No matter how miniscule a side effect must feel, you should either proceed with caution or immediately stop before it leads to further complications. I am really praying and hoping for your fast recovery. Thanks again.

  6. I ordered this product and excited to try it, I opened the package the night before and noticed when I scooped some out it looked staticky and found fibers, I luckily looked the night before if it was the morning I would have missed it, it was so disgusting! I sent an email and pictures that night and received a refund right away no questions asked. I wish I could post a picture here, it won’t let me.

    1. Hi Karen, thanks a lot for your insight on Prebiothrive, I’m glad to hear you received a refund without a lot of struggle, which is completely normal for a legitimate company. From what you’re saying, you probably ordered directly from the brand’s official website, not from any retailer.

  7. Browsing probiotics has been my hobby for a while now (I am aware that it is a prebiotics). So, the concept of prebiotics is new to me… I have a lot of questions but other than that, I am quite disappointed with this product based on what I have read. Help me correct my misconception about this product please… What make it better or same with prebiotics? Also, how do I know which works better for me?

    -Clarita

    1. Hi! I think you may already have come across it but you just might have missed it. In simple words, probiotics is the good bacteria in your guts that has an essential role in the body while the prebiotics is known as the food of the good bacteria and gut microorganisms. There is not really much which is better because both is essential to the body. Instead, look for a supplement that has both to achieve the maximum and most effective possible result. Hopefully, I was able to make it clear but if not, go to this guide so that you can understand more about it.
