Note. This article is based on my own research on remedies for thinning hair.

1. Use Essential Oils

Nowadays essential oils are pretty popular, due to their properties.

In fact, they can be used for many hair problems, including thinning hair.

So, essential oils are quite essential for a healthy hair.

Let's have a look at their top benefits for your hair:

  • help your hair grow
  • improve the thickness of your hair
  • promote hair shiness and strength
  • improve the health of your hair

You probably heard that some essential oils have a pleasant smell.

However, as you can see – this is not their only benefit.

If you use them, you can get your healthy and gorgeous hair back.

Which are the best essential oils for you and your hair?:

  • castor oil
  • coconut oil
  • shea oil
  • lavender essential oil [1]
  • rosemary essential oil
  • argan oil
  • jojoba oil
  • tea tree oil

When it comes to hair growth, castor oil is our champion and star.

Many people know that it is a great remedy for weak and thin hair.

However, all the oils mentioned here are great for you, so pick the one you like most.

How should you use those oils?

Well, aromatherapy surely is a great way to relax, but I advise you to apply them to your hair and scalp.

I'm sure you are eager to discover the instructions, so here they are:

  • Pick the suitable oil for you.
  • Castor, coconut, or shea oil are good for dry hair and jojoba or argan oil are great for greasy hair.
  • Mix 2-3 drops of essential oil with a tablespoon of carrier oil (olive, almond oil).
  • Massage the mixture into your scalp vigorously for 2-3 minutes.
  • Leave the oil on your scalp overnight or rinse the scalp after 20 minutes.

If your scalp is dry, you can leave the oil overnight.

Yet, if you have a rather oily scalp, you'd better rinse your scalp after 20 minutes.

Now that you know all those details, you are ready to give essential oils a go.

So, don't forget to use essential oils and your hair will look more beautiful than ever.

Essential oils are part of the most effective remedies for thinning hair.

That's because they can improve your hair growth speed and thickness.

So make sure that you pick the suitable oil for your hair and scalp and use it regularly.

2. Eat Foods Rich in Biotin

You probably already heard of biotin and some of its benefits.

In fact, many people claim that biotin is vital for hair health.

However, do you know what is biotin and why is it important for your hair?

Let's answer those two questions before we move on.

First of all, biotin is a vitamin (B7) that, like other vitamins, can be found in foods.

Moreover, biotin is essential for hair, due to various reasons:

  • biotin deficiency can cause thinning of your hair [2]
  • biotin improves the structure of keratin
  • it can improve the health and strength of your hair

Now you know why getting the amount of biotin that you need is necessary for your hair.

So, the next step is to discover what foods are rich in biotin.

Let's have a look at some of them:

  • legumes
  • egg yolks
  • nuts and seeds
  • mushrooms
  • sweet potato
  • avocado
  • broccoli
  • bananas

As other people probably told you, your diet influences the health of your hair.

So if you want to have a gorgeous hair, you need to eat foods rich in biotin.

I know that legumes are not very popular, but they definitely are healthy.

So you might want to include in your meals the following foods:

  • lentils
  • black beans
  • chickpeas
  • kidney beans
  • soybeans

If you want a healthy snack that will also help your hair grow, try nuts and seeds.

In their case, the options are also varied.

Here are some types of nuts and seeds that might make your mouth water:

  • almonds
  • peanuts
  • pecans
  • walnuts
  • sunflower seeds
  • chia seeds
  • pumpkin seeds

Moreover, you can prepare some delicious desserts with those seeds and nuts.

However, make sure that you try the other foods that I mentioned too.

All of them are worth eating and beneficial for your hair.

So, don't omit biotin from your diet and give your hair the vitamins that it needs and deserves.

If you do that, I'm sure that your hair will look lovely!

Biotin is one of the vitamins that are essential for your hair health and growth.

Actually, a biotin deficiency can lead to thinning hair (exactly what you don't want).

Thus, make sure that you get the amount of biotin that you need by eating foods rich in it.

3. Try Scalp Massage

Scalp massage is one of the most effective methods to grow your hair.

Moreover, it can also help you relax and improve your mood.

So, if you work in a stressful environment, this might be the perfect solution for you.

However, what is scalp massage, and how it can help you?

Well, scalp massage is similar to other types of massages that you know.

Yet, it is more gentle and, most of the time it is not done with oil.

Moreover, it is a helpful remedy for you:

  • increases hair thickness
  • might help people who suffer from alopecia
  • dilates blood vessels under the skin
  • boosts hair growth

So, scalp massage might be beneficial for people who are dealing with alopecia.

Moreover, it can strengthen your hair and improve its health.

Do you already want to start massaging your scalp?

I hope that your answer is yes because I will teach you how to do that in a moment.

Before that, I must tell you that there are two ways in which you can massage your scalp:

  • using a device specially designed for this
  • using your fingers

Of course, it is not absolutely necessary to have a device if you want to massage your scalp.

However, this might be helpful in case you don't want to use your fingers.

Moreover, when it comes to such devices, options are numerous.

Yet, if you prefer to use your fingers to massage your scalp, I can teach you how to do that:

  1. Use the fingers of both hands to apply light pressure to your scalp.
  2. Massage your scalp by moving your fingers in small circles.
  3. Make sure that you cover all the areas of your scalp.
  4. Try to massage your scalp at least 5 minutes at a time, several times a day.

It is as simple as that!

However, make sure that you remember to massage your scalp at least 2 times per day.

Also, don't expect a result too soon. It will take some time until you will see the results.

But I assure you that your patience will be rewarded.

So, don't hesitate to give this remedy a whirl and you won't regret it!

Scalp massage is a great solution for those who are dealing with thinning hair.

5. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Who hasn't heard of apple cider vinegar?

It is used both in the kitchen and as a remedy for various health issues.

Moreover, it is an accessible solution for those who are dealing with thinning hair.

Want to find out more about its properties?

Here are some of the benefits of ACV for hair and hair growth:

  • keeps your scalp healthy [3]
  • helps you have a balanced pH level
  • stimulates hair growth
  • prevents hair loss

As you can observe, ACV is beneficial for your scalp and hair.

However, don't expect it to work instantly.

It can improve your hair and scalp health, but you need to be patient.

How should you use ACV? Well, let me give you two options:

  • use a shampoo based on ACV
  • apply ACV to your scalp

Let's take them in order.

Using a shampoo that is based on ACV might be useful, but you need to pick the right shampoo.

There are many products that contain harmful substances like sulfates, parabens, or silicons.

So, make sure that your shampoo is free from these ingredients.

If the second option sounds better to you, then let me tell you the instructions:

  1. Mix 2 to 4 tablespoons of ACV with 16 ounces of water.
  2. After shampooing and conditioning, pour the mixture over your hair evenly.
  3. Let it sit for a couple of minutes (3-5 minutes).
  4. Rinse it out with warm water.

The only disadvantage that this option might have is the unpleasant smell of ACV.

However, if you don't have a problem with it, this might be one of the remedies you are looking for.

How often should you apply ACV to your scalp?

Well, this depends on the type of scalp you have:

  • 2 times per week if your scalp is dry
  • whenever you wash your hair if your scalp is oily

So, what do you think? Is ACV worth trying?

I think it is, especially because ACV might be exactly what your hair needs.

Thus, give it a go and your hair will shine with healthiness!

Apple cider vinegar is also on our list thanks to its benefits.

In fact, ACV keeps your scalp and hair healthy by helping you have a balanced pH level.

That's why I advise you to apply ACV to your scalp or to use a shampoo based on ACV.

6. Include Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Your Diet

Another way in which you can improve hair growth is by eating the right foods.

You should know that your diet influences the health of your hair by now.

That's why it is important to eat the right foods for you.

Part of them are foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Why are omega-3 fatty acids useful for you?

Well, let's find the answer:

  • provide essential protein and nutrients to hair follicles
  • prevent hair follicle inflammation, one factor that contributes to hair loss
  • promotes circulation in the scalp
  • can improve hair growth

So, by eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids you can boost your hair growth.

Also, you make sure that your hair grows healthier and faster than usual.

What foods are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids?

Well, let me tell you some examples:

  • fish [4]
  • seafood
  • nuts
  • seeds
  • plant oils
  • fortified foods

Fish and seafood are some of the best-known sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

That's why it is recommended to eat fish two times per week.

What types of fish and seafood are the best ones for you and your needs?:

  • salmon
  • mackerel
  • tuna
  • herring
  • sardines

I don't think I need to insist too much on nuts and seeds.

I already told you that they are a great source of biotin.

Now you know that nuts and seeds are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

So, you have one more reason to eat them regularly.

When it comes to plant oils you might want to try the following:

  • flaxseed oil
  • soybean oil
  • canola oil

Fortified foods are the ones that have extra nutrients added to them.

There are certain foods that might be fortified with omega-3 fatty acids.

Some examples are those:

  • eggs
  • yogurt
  • juices
  • milk

Now that you know what you eat, make sure that you include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

Such a diet is not only beneficial to your hair, but also for your overall health.

For those reasons, I advise you to eat as many of those foods as you can.

In this way, your hair will look and be healthy and you will feel confident again!

Omega-3 fatty acids are not only beneficial for your overall health, but also for your hair.

In fact, they can boost your hair growth by promoting circulation in your scalp.

Thus, make sure that you eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like fish and seafood.

7. Don't Forget About Coffee

This time I won't tell you to drink coffee.

Instead, you can use coffee as a remedy for hair growth.

This information might surprise you, but actually coffee can improve your hair health.

Moreover, coffee is accessible and easy to use.

Who doesn't have coffee in the kitchen?

Also, coffee is quite beneficial for your hair. Let's have a look at its properties:

  • caffeine boosts hair growth
  • it can also stop hair loss
  • stimulates the blood circulation of the scalp
  • makes your hair thicker

Of course, in order to have these results you need to apply coffee to your scalp.

So, you have to follow my instructions accordingly.

How should you use coffee for hair growth?

Well, let me tell you how:

  1. Brew a strong pot of coffee.
  2. Wash your hair as normal.
  3. While the hair is still wet, spray or apply the brewed coffee to your hair.
  4. Make sure that your strands are saturated.
  5. After applying, massage the coffee into your scalp and hair for a few minutes.
  6. Apply a shower cap and allow the rinse to sit for 20 minutes.
  7. Then, rinse your hair with warm water and allow your hair to air dry.

How often should you use this remedy in order to have good results?

I advise you to use it two times per week.

In this way, you make sure that your hair benefits from the properties of coffee.

However, if you don't want to apply coffee to your hair you might want to use a caffeine shampoo.

Such a shampoo can also help you with your hair problems.

Yet, like always, you need to take into consideration the following:

  • The shampoo is based on natural ingredients.
  • It is free from silicones, parabens, and sulfates.
  • It is a high-quality product.

After you picked the perfect product for you, make sure that you use it regularly.

Also, keep in mind that both remedies are effective and easy to put into practice.

So, make sure that you give coffee a try!

This drink is not only delicious but also a great remedy for thinning hair.

Thus, it surely deserves to be part of your hair care routine.

Thanks to the caffeine it contains, coffee is also a great remedy for hair thinning.

Surprisingly, caffeine has a positive effect on hair growth and thickness.
