It's time to review Belviq (previously known as Lorcaserin).
Now, what's the thing about this product? And why is it so controversial?:
- pretty dangerous supplement
- no longer available at this point
- very serious side effects
If you're intrigued by this product, let's find out the truth in this review.
Note: This review is based on my opinion + research on Belviq Lorcaserin.
Review Summary
Full Name: Belviq (Lorcaserin HCl) by Eisai
Product Type: Weight Loss Supplement
Best Actual Price: Around $66-$213
Cheapest Place To Buy: No Longer Available
Designed For: Treating symptoms of obesity
My Rating: 1 out of 10
Recommended?: Not at all – there are some serious reasons why you should stay away from it:
- banned by FDA
- many risky side effects
- no longer available (because of all the problems it had)
Honestly – it's a pretty alarming supplement, according on its history.
Even if it was still available, I would advise you to opt for a safer and better weight loss alternative.
What I Liked About It
- Small pill size
- Easy to take and swallow
What I Didn’t Like About It
- Very little information available about it currently
- Pretty expensive for its health risks
- No longer available in any official seller/website
- Causes serious adverse reactions (mostly cancer)
- Already banned by the FDA
Belviq (Lorcaserin) In A Nutshell
I want to say right away that Belviq was banned by the FDA
Very few products have actually been taken so seriously by the FDA.
So it's obvious that Belviq was a major life threaten for people trying to lose weight.
But let me first tell you about its formula:
- Lorcaserin hydrochloride is its only active compound.
- It works by controlling your brain to suppress your appetite.
- In return, you feel full and stop craving more food.
- Also, you need to be actively exercising and eating properly.
So the combination of physical activity and the supplement was supposed to make you lose weight.
However – the product had a lot of issues.
According to FDA reports, it was the (indirect) responsible for several cases of cancer.
Now – Belviq has many other problems:
- other alarming side effects (less scary than cancer, but still serious)
- expensive for the health risks it comes with
- lots of complaints from previous users
Again, it's no longer available everywhere – but its previous price was around $66-$213.
As you can see, it was extremely varied (depending on where you bought it from).
However – there are still some 3rd party stores that sell it.
I cannot guarantee it's the original product, but one thing is clear…
I strongly advise you to stay away from it:
- It's most likely one of the numerous fake versions.
- If it's the original product, it's even worse, as it's extremely dangerous.
Again – the product can lead to cancer, so don't risk your health.
There are so many weight loss supplements out there that really work.
And guess what? They have zero risks for your health!
So even if you ever see a version of Belviq anywhere, please stay away from it.
#1 – How It Works & Producer
Now – we're going to talk about the details of Belviq in this part:
- how it works internally
- who is the producer behind
- what health problems it answers
1. How It Works
So what is Belviq?
It's a drug that can reduce weight and treat symptoms of obesity.
At least that's what it claims…
Like other weight loss products, it should be taken in conjunction with these activities:
- consistent exercise
- balanced diet
Now, in terms of mechanism of action – Belviq works by affecting a certain part of your brain to control your appetite.
In return – you won't gain additional weight.
But as you already know, there are a lot of issues about this product.
And since the product was banned, it's clearly that they were very serious.
Reportedly, Belviq increases the risk of cancer, which is a very serious problem.
But we're going to take more about this later on.
So I will explain more info about it further down the line
But as early as now, I recommend that you stay away from it.
It's no longer available on paper – but certain websites still sell it (who knows if the product is the original or not).
2. Company Behind
Eisai is the producer behind Belviq (Lorcaserin HCl).
But like I said, Belviq was already banned by FDA.
The manufacturing and selling of the product are now highly discouraged.
So if you still see it being sold in different places, you should avoid it.
Those versions could be illegal or worse, just fake.
Now – the company is not a scam, since people always received their orders.
But regardless of its authenticity, the product itself is not safe to consume.
#2 – Ingredients (1 out of 10)
Firstly – Belviq's formula has one active compound.
Obviously, it only contains Lorcaserin hydrochloride [1].
Now – this substance is used as an anti-obesity drug for obese or overweight people. [2]
To give you a better idea, here are the main actions of the compound:
- it's a receptor agonist that controls your brain
- in return, it gives the feeling of fullness [3]
- also, it suppresses the appetite and cravings [4]
Again, you will only see its weight loss effect if you work out and do a proper diet.
Still – based on my research, the compound has a lot of problems.
But the highest risk it has is the increased incidence of cancer that a lot of studies proved [5].
Honestly, I have reviewed many supplements – but none of them had such serious side reactions as Belviq.
In fact, I wouldn't even call it a supplement, since it's not based on herbs, minerals or natural substances.
It's actually a drug – and an extremely dangerous one.
So there's absolutely no way I could ever recommend it.
Conclusion
To be very honest, Belviq is very dangerous.
Although there's a clear picture of its mechanism of action and how it works, it's not safe at all.
Also – in terms of the overall formula, it's not the best you can find.
So I strongly recommend you to go for a safer but stronger alternative.
#3 – Pills & Dosage (2 out of 10)
In this chapter, let's discuss the other features of Belviq.
1. Pills
Firstly – let me first describe to you what its pills looks like:
- small and circular shape
- formulated as tablet
- coloured in blue
Normally, I would say that it's easy to take, given its pills' aspect and size.
But I couldn't really praise any of its features, considering the real problems it causes.
2. Dosage
On paper, Belviq's instructions are easy to follow.
The recommended dose is a tablet twice times a day (a total of 2 pills/day).
In addition, it's highly suggested not to increase the prescribed dosage.
Also – the product itself can be taken with or without food.
But again, I don't recommend you to try it even once, due to the possible risks it poses.
#4 – Results (2 out of 10)
Unfortunately, I no longer saw any user experiences about Belviq.
But I will try to give an overview of the experiences of people who tried it before being banner.
Note: I only analyzed authentic reviews, not promotional or fake ones.
1. What People Say
As I've mentioned, Belviq is no longer available.
So I gathered all the comments of people and opinions of the FDA about it.
Here are the overall thoughts regarding the product:
- Lorcaserin HCl has a high chance of causing cancer.
- Some people experienced serious side effects while using the product.
- Before being banned, a lot of previous users noticed a reduction in their weight.
As you can see, almost all of the info about the product is very limited.
So the only details I collected were the reports from FDA and other related websites.
That's because most of the info related to this product was deleted.
In other words – FDA wants people to forget it has ever existed.
But if you ask me, those were actually solid proof that the product is pretty dangerous.
Now, after checking its reviews, some things are clear about it:
- it was actually effective in terms of weight loss
- a lot of people managed to lose weight while using it
- but many others developed cancer or severe health conditions
So no matter how effective it was for weight loss, there's no way Belviq would be worth it.
I could never recommend it to anyone.
Conclusion
At this point, Belviq's customer reviews are completely inexistent.
Well, that's because it's already been banned from the market (and its reviews were deleted).
So I think these reasons are strong enough to convince you the product is not safe at all.
#5 – Side Effects (1 out of 10)
In this chapter, we're going to talk about the secondary reactions of Belviq.
Based on some studies, here are the adverse reactions it can cause:
- cancer
- vision problems
- problems in memory and focus
- breast swelling and discharge
- reproductive health dysfunction
- heart problems
- fever and nausea
- diarrhea and vomiting
Now – I didn't exactly find any customer reviews about the side effects.
But as I said, they were deleted once the product was banner.
Plus, the reports from the FDA and other scientific studies are enough (in my opinion).
So again – Belviq is extremely dangerous for your health.
If you ever find any version of it (whether original or fake), make sure to report it and never purchase it.
Your health is a lot more important than a few extra pounds.
Since there are so many other effective products, why take the risk with Belviq?
#6 – Price (1 out of 10)
As expected, I can't find the exact price of Belviq.
But honestly, I don't think it matters anymore, since you should avoid it at all costs.
1. The Exact Price
Again – Belviq is no longer available anywhere.
But based on my research, the price of one bottle was around $66-$213:
- the original price is still unclear
- there's a big difference in prices depending on the seller
- the lowest price was probably on its official website
- all the other retailers were buying it from the official website and selling it afterwards
Sure, the price can be reasonable if it worked for a lot of people (before being banned).
But now that we know the truth about it, no price would be worth it.
Again, it's very dangerous for the body so I don't recommend taking it even for free.
Now – I saw an online marketplace that still sells the product.
I'm not sure if it's a legit version or not.
But again, make sure to stay away from it and never buy such a product.
Your health is the most important thing you have!
2. Competitors’ Price
With that, I have another recommendation for you – called PhenQ.
It's the best weight loss product I know, because it's safer and legit:
- PhenQ has varied ingredients that are proven to support weight loss.
- The doses are potent but at the same time safe.
- Belviq contains one active ingredient, which is called Lorcaserin hydrochloride.
- It was banned by the FDA because of its serious side effects.
- PhenQ has minimal risks of side effects while Belviq can cause cancer.
- You can buy PhenQ for only $37 (the normal price is $69).
- Previously, the price of Belviq was around $66-$213.
It's quite obvious by now that PhenQ is way safer than Belviq.
Again, its ingredients don't do absolutely any harm (studies can prove this).
But at the same time, you can reach your weight loss goals with it.
Just make sure to not overdose it and follow the instructions.
So if you don't want to risk your health, PhenQ is my top pick.
Conclusion
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Belviq.
Again – it's very dangerous for your health.
But luckily, it's no longer available anywhere (except for unofficial stores).
So better invest your money, time and effort in a safer weight loss product.
#7 – Final Conclusions
Let me give you my final thoughts on Belviq.
1. One Active Ingredient
Again – Belviq has only one active compound.
It's called Lorcaserin hydrochloride:
- reduces cravings
- provides a feeling of fullness
So don't expect to see vitamins, minerals and herbs in it.
If you ask me, the compound was previously mentioned to be effective for weight loss.
But again, I don't really recommend it.
2. Cancer Risk
Well – the major reason why I don't recommend Belviq is its risks.
Based on clinical studies, it can cause cancer and other serious side effects.
So in my view, these reasons are strong enough to avoid it at all costs.
3. Banned By FDA
If you ask me, the solid reasons above resulted in the unavailability of Belviq.
But before, one bottle would cost between $66-$213.
Honestly – even if it was safe and effective, I still wouldn't recommend it.
But since it was also banned by the FDA, it's clearly that it's extremely dangerous.
My Verdict – Worth It Or Not?
Short answer: No – there are some serious factors why I don't recommend it:
- Banned by the FDA
- Triggers dangerous adverse reactions
- Can't be bought in any official stores
- Very pricey, given its serious risks
At this moment, it's pretty obvious that I won't encourage you to buy Belviq.
It's proven to be dangerous and that it can cause cancer.
Several scientific studies are enough to tell us to not try it all.
So I think I already explained in detail why you should avoid it.
What do I recommend instead?
Well, I have a better and more effective alternative for you.
The product I'm talking about is my top recommendation – PhenQ:
- Very safe to use with minimal risks of side effects
- Promotes weight loss and reduce weight gain very effectively
- Justifiable pricing for its superior features
- Available on its official website
Overall – I strongly suggest you to buy PhenQ instead.
Sure, Belviq is no longer available.
But it's still being sold (probably unofficially) by other 3rd party sellers.
Again – it's very dangerous.
So even if you see it being sold anywhere (even if it shouldn't be), don't buy it.
The FDA already released a report that it's banned.
So stay away from it and don't risk your health.
You can always find a supplement that will help you lose weight, like PhenQ.
